Mzansi, dust off your party moves and warm up those celebration grooves because we’ve got a BIG reason to celebrate. Next year the KFC fam is celebrating 50 years of ‘it’s finger lickin’ good’ in South Africa. That’s 50 years of sharing our Original Recipe, southern hospitality and those feel good moments with you! We’re so amped, we couldn’t even wait until next year to get festive, so we’re kicking off our bash now. And ‘cause a crazy year deserves a crazy celebration, we’re going BIG by going halvies with you - because sharing the goodness is what we do best. From insane daily deals on menu items to sick local collabs – you won’t want to miss out on this action.
Let’s celebrate Ke Dezember together, by sharing. Let’s go 5050!
YAY ABE X KFC LIMITED EDITION BIRTHDAY BUCKETS
What’s a party without some colour? To celebrate our milestone, we went 50/50 with local talent to reinvent our most iconic packaging – our buckets. We hooked up with Cape Town-based Illustrator Yay Abe, the genius behind our limited edition 50th Birthday Buckets. Yay Abe helped transform our famous bucket packaging with his bold, bright and playful illustration style to bring even more swag to your festive table. A nod to both KFC and SA’s growth over the past half a decade, our collectable Birthday Buckets celebrate everything we’re proud to be a part of; local heritage, local culture and all the sharing goodness. They’re only available this December, so collect, eat, share and enjoy!
MEET YAY ABE: THE TALENT BEHIND OUR LTD ED. BIRTHDAY BUCKETS
The talented Russell Abrahams, AKA Yay Abe, is an award-winning creative to keep an eye on. Born and raised on the colourful streets of Cape Town, his biggest inspiration is the happiness, hope and people of Mzansi and our colourful, diverse cultures. His illustrations are known for their unique mix of bold colours, unique graphic styles and a playful nature - what better recipe for our historic celebration.
THESIS x KFC STREETWEAR COLLECTION
So because turning 50 is such a BIG deal to us so we also joined hands – and brands – with local style makers Thesis Lifestyle to collaborate on KFC’s first local streetwear collection. Thesis, the stylish Soweto born n’ bread trend setters helped us bring the original streetwear style of Thesis, together with the Original Recipe flavour and flare of KFC. Made for the people and inspired by the streets, this limited edition collection celebrates all local ‘Originals’. And the best part? 50% of all sales will be going towards the KFC Add Hope programme so that KFC and our fans can go 50/50 in supporting South Africans who need it most. With only 100 of each item for sale, best you order your December swag fast before it’s sold out. www.thesislifestyle.co.za/collections/ThesisxKFC
MEET THESIS LIFESTYLE: THE GENTS BEHIND OUR STREETWEAR COLLECTION
Thesis Lifestyle was founded by the young and ambitious Wandile Zondo and Galebowe Mahlatsi. Starting out as a second-hand clothing brand in 2006 they’ve grown into a popular retail chain, events company and social impact movement with all the cred and a whole lot of style. Their motto is to ‘Define Yourself’ and we’re all about that, so there couldn’t be a better fit to help celebrate our Original Recipe heritage. The two go-getter founders focus on inspiring the next generation through creativity and culture and we’re proud to take a space on their shelves.
And what would a Birthday be without gifts? We’re giving away our limited edition Thesis x KFC gear with KFC vouchers this December. And as we’re all about going 50/50 for our big 5 0, the lucky fans will win 2 prizes each so you can go halvies with your bestie. From the 21-30 of December stay close to our social pages and get ready to share in the celebrations with us. Let’s go 50/50.
